What is covered
The
basics. Our instructor will take you out into the wide blue ocean (or a
reasonable facsimile thereof, otherwise known as the Gulf of Mexico) and
show you how to hoist the sails and get the sailboat going under sail power.
What else is covered?
The basic
points of sail. How to sail to the wind (close reach), sideways to the wind
(beam reach) and with the wind (broad reach)
You will
be given the wheel and taught how to feel the wind and trim the sails for
the direction of the wind.
Anything else?
Nope!
What else do you expect for only four hours?
After
this short introduction to sailing, you will have a good idea if this is
something you want to pursue (or run away from!).
Certificate
You must be kidding! Not even Windsong Sailing
School is crazy enough to issue a certificate after only 4 hours of sailing!
But this will assist you in deciding if sailing is something you want to get
into before committing to a real sailing class, such as our beginners or
intermediate class where you actually WILL receive a certificate. This
also counts toward "sail time" for you to put into your sailing log book.
